Soodie went to all the right schools. By the age of 21 she found herself conversant in several different languages. Her mother was a close personal friend of Balenciaga, the great Basque courtier, and spent many of her summers basking in the Mediterranean sun on the deck of his private yacht.
As a child, Soodie was often treated like an after thought. She was cute, but her mother was beautiful. No spotlight was big enough for the two of them to share. As a lonely girl, shipped off to a private school, she spent her weekends at the manor house of an eccentric dowager. The house was filled with antique furniture and decorative arts. It wasn’t apparent at first, but Soodie soon became fascinated by these treasures.
The dowager suddenly died, the furnishings were carried off in the dead of night by a gang of hoodlums and sold for pennies. Soodie vowed revenge. Her love for these objects and the history they told convinced her to keep them alive.
About Scout
He was born in a back alley of a squalid river town. He came up tough, and in order to survive he had to get tough and stay tough. Despite Scout’s humble beginnings, he was determined to better himself. When he saw Soodie, it was love at first sight. She was cool, elegant and unflappable. He was scruffy, disheveled and unmannerly. Albeit all the heartache, deep down Scout nurtured a spark that would eventually reveal a softer sensitive, more intellectual side. The two have been sharing adventures now for several years.
He is enthusiastic over just about all of Soodie’s obsessions. An eager learner, he watches her carefully and wants to become a professional antique detective like her. When he feels she has strayed, he lets her know in no uncertain terms that she needs to get back on the mark.
Soodie is dedicating the rest of her life to making Scout into a truly suave, erudite Westie.
