Scout is compulsive about his detective kit. He doesn’t like anyone to touch it, not even Soodie. He decides to check the items in his bag. A good antique detective never goes out without tools of the trade. You never know when you might need to record clues.
Scout is compulsive about his detective kit. He doesn’t like anyone to touch it, not even Soodie. He decides to check the items in his bag. A good antique detective never goes out without tools of the trade. You never know when you might need to record clues.
Scout opens his bag to check the contents. In it he has his high-powered magnifying glass. He blows on the glass and wipes off an unknown greasy print with the sleeve of Soodie’s coat hanging from the back of her chair. He needs this magnifying glass so he can see any maker’s marks, or scratches or properly worn spots on an item. He may miss a few things with a naked eye.
The next item he pulls from his bag is a measuring tape. He needs this to take measurements of an item. He needs measurements to compare the size of the object he is examining to an original.
Scout reaches for his digital camera and checks the batteries. He quickly snaps a picture of Soodie. She is outraged. She doesn’t like pictures taken without time to fix her hair or to put on a dab of lipstick, he knows this. With a digital camera, he can blow up pictures to see details. Sometimes the camera can catch things missed during an inspection.
His notebook still has clean unmarked pages and he has numerous pens. He also has moist towelettes to clean his paws after handling tarnished metal items. And finally a few protein bars because he has low blood sugar.

I learned a lot about an inspection. Thank you, Scout for letting us know about your special kit. You are so adorable.
Moist towelettes are a lifesaver, even for those of us without white fur.
Like a true Scout: always prepared. I think I am falling in love with this dog!
